FAQs

Do I need to register before coming?

For all free activities, no. Only for paid activities (Build an Ornament and Junior Tryout), yes.

Who is this event suitable for?

Adults and kids 5yo and above. We have separate sessions for beginners, parents, and young makers — from fun missions to real woodworking demos. For all kids below 10yo, 1-to-1 adult supervision is required.

Is this event really free?

Entry and most activities are free, including course previews and masterclass demos. Only the wooden ornament build and junior tryout slots requires a small fee of RM30/person.

How long are the masterclass demos and how do I join?

Each session runs about 30–60 minutes depending on the topic. Please refer to the Open Day Schedule for the slot dates and times. Also, first come, first served due to limited seating.

What will we actually learn in the demos?

You’ll see real woodworking skills in action — sharpening, saw techniques, joinery and basic cabinet making. These are exactly what we teach in our long-term courses, condensed into quick takeaways.

Are the demos hands-on or only watching?

Short answer: a mix. Instructors will demonstrate key skills, then invite a few participants to try simple steps safely — so you feel what it’s like to learn here.

Will my child be handling real tools? Is it safe?

Yes for the build sessions, your child will be handling very basic tools, but it will be safe and must be monitored by 1 parent at all times. Kids use age-appropriate hand tools under supervision by our trained facilitators. Safety is our top priority.

Can we take home what we build?

Yes! For the Build-a-Wooden-Ornament activity, you keep what you make. Demo items stay on-site, but you’ll learn exactly how to build your own!

I’m a complete beginner. Can I join the demos?

Absolutely. Everything is designed for newcomers. You don’t need prior skills or tools — just curiosity and enthusiasm.

Can I sign up for classes on the spot?

Yes! We’ll have special on-day promos and priority booking for upcoming intakes. Limited seats — best to secure your slot during the event.

What if I already know woodworking — anything for me?

Definitely. Our masterclasses include advanced tips like sharpening, saw selection, and joinery demos. You’ll still learn new techniques.

Where is KitaBina located and where do I park?

We’re in Subang Jaya industrial area. Once you come into the guardhouse/yellow gate, go straight all the way past kitabina, to the end, and find parking spaces along the walls. DO NOT park in front of any factory shutters as they may be operating. You may also park outside the guardhouse/yellow gate, where you are not obstructing any exits or driveways.

What should we wear?

Closed-toe shoes recommended. Avoid loose clothing and dangling accessories.

I don’t own any tools — does that make me unsuitable?

You’re exactly the kind of person the demos are designed for. KitaBina provides all tools and materials during learning — and we’ll teach you what to buy only when you’re ready.
